Lubbock-Cooper Athletic Training aims to introduce students to the roles and responsibilities of an Athletic Trainer. These include the prevention, diagnosis, and care of various medical conditions. Athletic trainers work in conjunction with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of active individuals. Here at Lubbock-Cooper High School, that includes year-round coverage of athletes from all sports.
As part of this class, students will obtain a knowledge of basic taping techniques, injury evaluation, first aid/CPR, and rehabilitation protocols. Responsibilities include working long hours after school with occasional weekends for practices and games. Out of town travel with teams for away games is also a possibility. Being a Student Athletic Trainer requires a big time commitment, but it is a rewarding experience.
