Thanks to the LCMS Orchestra and Choir for their beautiful Christmas performances during the December board meeting!

Congratulations to Central Elementary's Lauren Houk, recipient of the LCISD Fall 2022 Gold Award sponsored by Grand Canyon University! Lauren received dozens of parent nominations, many of which cited the way she goes above and beyond to serve students, makes all students feel special, knows all students by name, and loves them like they are her own children!

We have received reports that the traffic lights at the intersection of University Avenue and FM 1585 (130th Street) are not operational this morning. Please use extra caution when traveling near this intersection today.

LCHS Cosmetology seniors invited 21 children and seven house parents from the Children's Home of Lubbock to their Winter Wonderland event, where they provided participants with free hairstyles, hygiene care packages, school supply backpacks, blankets, and gifts under the Christmas tree! House parents also received special gifts, and the Cosmetology Department was even able to present a $500 donation to the organization! We are so proud of Mr. Whitaker and his Pirates for supporting our community during the season of giving! (Customers pictured are younger siblings of Cosmetology students, who also got to join in the fun!)

West Elementary Student Council members were hard at work at the South Plains Food Bank, helping make sure all members of the Lubbock community have food for the holiday season!

New Hope Academy will host Fall 2022 Graduation at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20 at the LCISD Performing Arts Center! Congratulations, Fall graduates! 🎓🎓🎓

Congratulations to LCHS custodian Rudy Solozano, recipient of this month's Happy Pirate Award sponsored by Happy State Bank! The Happy Pirate Award is reserved for employees who show exemplary "customer service," doing their jobs exceptionally well and with a happy heart! Rudy displays the very spirit of the Happy Pirate Award, and was nominated by the entire LCHS administrative team!

The LCISD Special Education Department helped serve meals at Grace Campus last night as part of their Difference Makers campaign!

West Elementary celebrated one of our favorite holiday traditions this week, annual Who Day!

The District 8 DECA Competition is quickly approaching for the 2022-23 season, and we are searching for community members and professionals who would be interested in judging events! The LCISD Transportation Department will host the second annual Stuff the Bus event from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11 at Rosa's Cafe (13011 Indiana Ave.), where they will accept unwrapped toys for students throughout the district and canned food, hygiene products, and jackets for campus Pirate Pantries. Special guest the Grinch will be on-hand from 2:20-3:20 p.m. We hope to see you there!

LBMS Student Council members volunteered at the South Plains Food Bank apple orchard this week, sorting and bagging apples to be distributed to Lubbock area citizens in need during the holiday season!
