Did you know that each year, one LCISD employee receives Superintendent Bryant's Pulling for Kids Award? This special award is the greatest honor given by our superintendent, and is reserved for individuals who, often unnoticed, devote their time, energy, resources, and heart to serving the needs of Lubbock-Cooper students in a way that far surpasses their job responsibilities.  This year's recipient is Destini Borchardt, Lubbock-Cooper ISD Director of Food and Nutrition!  Destini has worked on every single LCISD campus, and her role impacts every student in the district, and most employees. She is known for her diligence and energy. If there's a job to do, Destini gets it done - and makes it look easy, although it usually isn't. She is extremely organized and follows a strict schedule, making sure that every task is completed exceptionally well and on time. Her main charge is ensuring that the children of LCISD are well-fed with nutritious and tasty food options, but she doesn't stop there. She has a history of making gingerbread houses each holiday season with our youngest students, bringing entire farmer's markets directly to campuses to allow students new and fun experiences, brainstorming and introducing on-the-go breakfast items for our teenage students who sometimes forget to start the day off with a balanced meal, and working closely with our Health Services Department to make sure our students get the opportunity to exert their energy and remain active. She also works side-by-side with our Culinary Arts Department, guiding students through advanced meal preparation, hospitality, and catering, and helping to prepare them for competitions.  Her job is to feed our students, but her passion is to make sure their bodies, spirits, and minds are nourished. Congratulations again, Destini! Thank you for always pulling for our kids!
