You may notice a few (hundred!) beaded friendship bracelets floating around the district this year. During the last two weeks of the spring semester, LCISD students assembled more than 1,300 bracelets to be distributed to staff at the start of the school year. Each bracelet includes an inspirational word or statement directly from the hearts of our kids - a fantastic reminder of why we do what we do! #LCPfamily

LCISD staff officially kicked off the new year with our annual Back to School Convocation yesterday! This Convocation was extra special, featuring presenter Sixtus Atabong, PC-A, founder and CEO of Purpose Medical Mission and author of the award-winning "My Father's Gift." Sixtus shared his experiences growing up in Cameroon and the challenges he faced on his educational and life path, along with the support and encouragement he received from educators along the way. At the conclusion of his presentation, Sixtus was presented with Superintendent Bryant's Pulling for Kids Award, the district's highest honor!
In addition to the inspiring message from Sixtus, Convocation included a generous donation by the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation of $1,000 for each LCISD campus, greetings from LCHS and Liberty HS cheerleaders, pom squads, mascots, and drum lines, and the Pledge of Allegiance, Texas Pledge, and national anthem performed by LCISD students!
Thanks to Parkhill and the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation for their generous sponsorship of this event, and to LCU for hosting our staff!

Congratulations to lifelong member of the LCP family Koley Schaffner, who was appointed to the Lubbock-Cooper ISD Board of Trustees today in Place 7, previously held by Brent Preston. Mr. Schaffner graduated from Lubbock-Cooper High School in 1999. He and his wife, Shannon, have two daughters enrolled in LCISD. The couple has served for several years as Lubbock-Cooper Ambassadors. Serving the district is in Mr. Schaffner's DNA - his father and both of his grandfathers were Lubbock-Cooper trustees. In fact, his maternal grandparents, Martha Jane and Clifford Robertson, were posthumously named the first-ever Lubbock-Cooper ISD Pirates of the Year when the award was established in 2011!
Welcome aboard, Koley! We're so pleased you're continuing a legacy of dedication to the LCP family!
Happy Fourth of July, LCP family! We hope you have a safe and relaxing day celebrating the country we love!
